Long story short, it is about removing plugin’s folder, installing its new version, and then unzipping new files back into the folder. Sometimes the process stalls out somewhere in the middle and the final result is that the folder is empty or missing some files. In this case, WordPress will show you a notice about a corrupt plugin. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  • Log in to your page via FTP.

  • Search for /wp-content/plugins/corruptpluginname folder.

  • Delete the folder.

  • Reinstall the plugin.


Sometimes it happens that missing files leads to more complicated errors, for example to the white screen of death. However, in such case you should not panic and fix the bug in the same way.

If after the upgrade your page does not run properly, try to update not only all other plugins, but also themes you have installed. You can also bring the WordPress core back to its latest version.
